Description of Program

The Justice Housing Support Program (JHSP) prevents homelessness for people leaving the justice system by helping them to access safe, secure and affordable long-term housing.

It also supports clients in addressing non-housing related support issues that may contribute to their history of homelessness and contact with the criminal justice system.

Eligibility Criteria

People who are part of the Court Referral and Evaluation for Drug Intervention and Treatment Program (CREDIT) Support Program or the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP) are eligible for referral to this program.

Specific criteria includes people who:

  • Are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless;
  • Have significant alcohol and/or drug problems;
  • Are at risk of incarceration;
  • Are entrenched in the criminal justice system;
  • Are impacted by health and mental health issues;
  • Are socially isolated and marginalised; and
  • Lack vocational and educational opportunities.

JHSP is located at Launch Housing Collingwood and covers the Melbourne metropolitan area.

Referral/Application Process

Access to this program is by referral from the CREDIT Bail program, CISP and the Neighbourhood Justice Centre using the JHSP referral form. Referrals go directly to the JHSP Coordinator.
