Homelessness doesn’t always look like you’d expect

Homelessness is often hidden in plain sight

In Melbourne, most people facing homelessness are couch-surfing, sleeping in cars, or moving through unsafe, unstable and temporary accommodation.

Hidden homelessness is increasingly
impacting all kinds of people

On any given night in Victoria, 7000 young people aged 12 to 24 are homeless. In the past five years, we have seen a 33% increase in women over 55 and a 20% increase in the number of young people and families with children seeking our services. These are some of the most vulnerable groups in our community.
Hidden homelessness is more common than rough sleeping, but it often goes unnoticed or is misunderstood. And the health, social, and economic impacts can be severe.
