A Little Help from Our Friends – Partnering to End Homelessness

58 new social homes have been delivered in a partnership between the Victorian state government, Launch Housing and Banyule City Council.

We’re driven by a belief in the power of collaboration to meet the critical need for more social housing. Initiatives like the recent opening of our Bellfield development showcase the power of collaboration when community organisations like Launch Housing unite and partner with local and state government and the local community.

“In social housing, the real magic unfolds when partners with a shared agenda come together to respond to homelessness. It’s about merging our resources, knowledge, and passion to deliver not just buildings, but homes and communities,” said Roberta Buchanan, our Executive Director, Housing Solutions.

“Collaboration and building enduring partnerships is at the heart of our approach, ensuring our housing solutions are sustainable and resonate deeply with the communities we serve”.

Bellfield exemplifies this spirit of partnership. A joint effort between Launch Housing, Banyule City Council, and Homes Victoria, the new development at Bellfield has evolved into more than a housing complex. It’s a vibrant community hub, a secure haven, and a springboard for new beginnings.

“Our experience at Bellfield has shown us how focusing on community engagement and sustainable design can create a real sense of belonging and security for residents,” Roberta said.

“The proximity of the Bellfield Community Hub and For Change Cafe is pivotal, offering residents chances for social engagement, skill development, and employment, which enriches their lives and strengthens community ties”.

Our commitment goes beyond just providing housing. We’re dedicated to offering comprehensive services tailored to meet the unique needs of each resident. Whether it’s mental health support or employment services, our aim is to empower residents, helping them to thrive in every aspect of their lives.

Yet, our work is far from complete. The growing need for affordable social housing is a challenge we can’t tackle alone. “We urge our communities, government partners, and fellow organisations to join us on this journey. Together, we can forge a future where a home for everyone is not just an aspiration, but a reality”.
