International Overdose Awareness Day: Recognising the people who go unseen

Today marks International Overdose Awareness Day, which sits close to home for us at Launch Housing. It’s easy to pass judgement, to see a person’s circumstances before seeing the person. Whether it’s homelessness or substance use, stigma can be a heavy burden. Today is about lifting that weight, even if just a little, and acknowledging the lives lost to overdose without judgment.

Our housing first model and harm reduction approach saves lives, as does proper Naloxone use. In this short video, Liam from our Alcohol and Other Drugs team at Launch Housing Southbank provides some crucial, life-saving tips about opioids.

We’re proud to align with Harm Reduction Victoria, who offer resources and training. Their work, like ours, is rooted in respect, evidence, and a commitment to improving lives. For more information and resources, check out their website here.
