Partner for Change

As one of Melbourne’s largest NFP organisations tackling homelessness, Launch Housing offers many ways for organisations big and small to add value, engage staff, and create impact. From major brands to emerging social enterprises, Launch Housing works in close partnership to find bespoke solutions.

EnergyAustralia and Launch Housing: changing the power

The statistics are confronting. Currently, domestic violence is the leading preventable contributor to death, disability and illness in women aged 15-44 years. Family violence is the leading cause of homelessness in Australia. EnergyAustralia’s staff choose to support Launch Housing as part of their workplace giving program. Together, we believe housing is a basic human right that affords people dignity. Everyone has a right to a home and it’s our job to make that happen. EnergyAustralia have provided direct support to hundreds of women and children escaping family violence and rebuilding a new life.

REA Group and Launch Housing building shared value

REA group and Launch Housing embody the principles of genuine partnership with multiple levels of support, activities and genuine social impact through the National Rapid Rehousing Fund we created together in 2014. The Fund supports women and children at risk of experiencing homelessness as a result of family violence. From supporting Launch Housing’s social enterprise HomeGround Real Estate, to providing skilled volunteers, to building Ikea furniture for families in need via the REA employee induction program. Most importantly, since commencement, the Fund has assisted 4,034 individuals, and 1,377 households including 2,259 children escape family violence.

Marshall White Foundation

Marshall White Foundation is supporting Launch Housing to provide immediate financial assistance to women and children at risk of, or experiencing homelessness as a result of issues such as domestic violence, unemployment and illness, so that they can access suitable alternative housing, or maintain their current private rental to achieve stability, preventing homelessness before they become entrenched in a damaging cycle of crisis.

The Body Shop

This 2020 festive season we’ve partnered with The Body Shop to raise awareness for family and domestic violence as the leading cause of homelessness. We must #ActTogether as a community, encourage meaningful conversations and shine a light on this issue.

Activist and Australian music artist Siala has hit the studio and done a remake of the song Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless) by Crystal Waters. Share this new single your friends and family to help spark conversations and drive social change!

SHAPE

Commercial fitout specialist, SHAPE Australia saw an ideal opportunity to assist Launch Housing by aligning their professional expertise with the needs of this Victorian non-profit. Their ReSHAPE program, which seeks to repurpose excellent quality furniture, has over the last year helped to upgrade many Launch Housing offices and tenancies. Additionally, SHAPE have harnessed the generosity of their subcontractors, who are giving via ReSHAPE their time, skills and materials to refurbish a Launch Housing Crisis Accommodation Centre. It’s been an exciting start to a very symbiotic partnership which benefits our clients by providing fresh, modern, lovingly created spaces in which they can find dignified shelter and safety.

NAB and Launch Housing: skilled volunteering is just the start

Thanks to NAB’s in-depth skilled volunteering program, Launch Housing could access experience, ideas and skills to create a new business strategy for HomeGround Real Estate, Launch Housing’s social enterprise.
From ‘Operation Plum Pudding,’ a staff driven initiative to help those without a home to enjoy Christmas, to NAB committing to be the first Australian bank to lend at scale to crisis accommodation providers, NAB shares our mission to ending homelessness genuine gestures of kindness both big and small.

Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre: helping vulnerable young people

There is a longstanding history between MCEC and Launch Housing. The land that MCEC stands on today was home to Hanover’s New Gordon House from 1976-1994 (a proud precursor to Launch Housing). Fast forward to current day and our partnership is going from strength to strength with the MCEC Launch Housing Employment Program. The program provides casual work opportunities for our youth clients that are living in the Education First Youth Foyers (EFY). It’s seen many at-risk young people work across MCEC’s kitchen, retail and customer service teams, providing employment opportunities while they finish their studies. It’s an amazing, and impactful partnership that ensures young people develop confidence, experience and transferable skills to high industry standards.

For Change Co. and Launch Housing: one coffee at a time

For Change Co. is a social enterprise with the vision of eliminating youth homelessness in Australia. Dedicated to this purpose, 100% of profits from their four social enterprises – Crêpes for Change, Coffee Cart Changing Lives, home.one & home.two – go towards helping young people escape the cycle of homelessness. Society Melbourne works closely with young people experiencing homelessness and empowers them to break the homelessness cycle themselves. In addition to the Hospitality Training Program, For Change Co. partners with Launch Housing to help provide sustainable housing solutions and a rent subsidy program allowing young people exiting Launch Housing’s EFY Foyer program to enter the rental market.

Rotary, Club of Melbourne: turning houses into homes

Rotary, Melbourne is the largest club in Australia and was established way back in April 1921. Fast forward to today and the club has an incredible network galvanised to build a better world. The Make a House a Home project provides essential supplies to vulnerable people moving into a house, often for the first time. Everything from kettles to saucepans, a toaster to a bathmat is provided. There’s nothing like putting the kettle on and making your own cup of tea to say ‘welcome home’.

Social Bums and Launch Housing: on a roll!

Social Bums is a socially conscious business supporting the homeless by offering a tree free toilet paper alternative to small and big businesses. By choosing Social Bums as your preferred toilet paper supplier, you are choosing to support your community. Fifty percent of all profits are donated to Launch Housing and Orange Sky. Community Kindness in Tough Times

Since March, RACV has kindly donated approximately 16,000 meals to help at-risk youth, families and women across Launch Housing’s site in Melbourne.

During the COVID-19 shutdown they have support us and other community organisations in difficult and uncertain times.

It’s been an incredibly challenging time for our clients and our frontline support workers have gone above and beyond to continue to help those in urgent need of essential food.
