Funding boost

Funding boost will help combat COVID19 in homeless sector

Launch Housing welcomes special funding measures for the homeless sector.

The Victorian Government is putting $6 million towards Victorian homelessness organisations to help protect Victorians at risk of or experiencing homelessness because of the COVID-19 virus.

CEO Bevan Warner says the funding is being targeted to help agencies find temporary housing for those who need it and help ensure those with the virus have somewhere safe to go if they need treatment.

“More temporary accommodation is needed as rough sleepers and people experiencing homelessness seek help, “ he said.

“This funding will help agencies to deal with the extra demands on our services and it’s come at the right time.  It’s good to see the Government stepping in to support some of the most vulnerable people and while this won’t fix all of the problems in this very fluid situation, it will help us as frontline first responders to help more people.“
