Why home matters this National Reconciliation Week 2026

May 28, 2026

National Reconciliation Week invites us to reflect on how truth, justice and belonging are deeply connected to having a safe space to call home.

As a homelessness organisation, Launch Housing recognises that the ongoing impacts of colonisation continue to shape First Nations Peoples’ experiences of homelessness and housing insecurity. Reconciliation is not separate from our work – it is essential to it.

Answering the All In call together

The National Reconciliation Week 2026 theme ‘All In’ calls on us all to take shared responsibility for meaningful change. For us, that means listening to First Nations voices, strengthening cultural safety, and walking alongside Community to create pathways home.

Learning, reflecting and taking action

This week, we came together to acknowledge and recognise leaders of reconciliation action within our organisation, followed by a screening of the 1986 satirical comedy, BabaKiueria. We shared a meal catered by Jerry’s Burgers – a First Nations-owned and operated catering business.

These moments of learning, connection and reflection remind us that reconciliation is built through action.
We’re all in for truth-telling, accountability, and a future where everyone has a place to belong.

Launch Housing is a place where people of diverse backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations are welcomed and supported.
