We’re proud to share the latest edition of Our House
Our House is our annual magazine that brings together powerful stories, bold ideas and real-world solutions to homelessness. The 2026 edition continues to celebrate what it means to be a Melburnian: a mix of compassion, creativity and a shared commitment to building a fairer city for everyone. It is distributed in cafes and other retail spaces across inner Melbourne, as a way to start conversations over coffee, lunch or on the tram home.
Stories that connect us
At the heart of this year’s magazine are stories that challenge assumptions and spark connection. You’ll find voices of lived experience alongside frontline insights from our team, researchers and advocates. Each brings a different perspective on the same goal: ending homelessness in Melbourne.
This year’s edition dives into:
- Raise the Roof, a striking public exhibition that brings together Melbourne’s love of AFL with the reality of homelessness. It reminds us that homelessness can affect anyone and with the right supports people can rebuild and thrive.
- The growing number of older women facing homelessness, and the structural drivers behind this.
- The impact of the rental crisis, through one woman’s story of navigating Melbourne’s private rental market on a single income.
- How education can help break the cycle of disadvantage, to support long term stability for families.
It also looks beyond Australia, exploring what global evidence tells us about how to end homelessness, including the roles of Housing First and affordable housing.
Alongside these stories, Our House 2026 showcases progress on the ground right here in Melbourne.
Like previous editions, this magazine is designed to start conversations. In homes, workplaces, cafés and across the community – about the kind of city we want Melbourne to be and how we can help.
